Frequently Asked Questions
Other FAQs :
- Q: Can I use polished concrete outdoors?
- A: A matte (up to 100 grit) or even low sheen (400 grit) can be used outdoors, but polished concrete with a high sheen is not recommended.
- Q: When is the best time for concrete to be polished after pouring a new slab?
- A: As a general rule, concrete should be allowed to cure for 28 days prior to grinding.
- Q: Can any concrete floor be polished?
- A: Almost any concrete floor. Floors which are saturated with oil, or are in environments where they will constantly be exposed to acids, are probably not ideal for a polished concrete floor. Whether a new construction or a 100 year old slab, most concrete floors can benefit greatly from the aesthetic, durability, and longevity of polishing.
- Q: How long does it take for concrete sealer to dry?
- A: Most concrete sealers dry fairly quickly and are usually touch-dry after 4 hours. This is true of both penetrating and topical sealers. Penetrating sealers usually fully cure in 24 hours with topical sealers generally taking up to 48 hours to fully dry.
- Q: Can the floor be brought back up if it gets dull?
- A: Yes and the best thing about it is that it will never be as involved as the initial process. Normally it will only take a couple of steps to reach the end result required.
