Testimonials

My mother's tiles were old and ugly, as she has been living in the same house her entire life without ever really taking care of her tiles. I called Tile Cleaners to get advice on what to do with them. They came to her house the next day to have a look at my mum's tiles. I am very satisfied with how patient and highly professional you were with my mother. I am sorry I couldn't be there when you arrived, and I am really impressed by how you managed to explain everything to my mom and help her out. Thank you for doing a great job.

Angela Coopers, Concord, NSW

I just got new tiles laid in my house that were very expensive. I needed to get them sealed but couldn't afford to pay much for it. On the other hand I didn't want to go for a company offering cheap and unreliably services. My boss recommended Tile Cleaners, saying that the company's prices were reasonable and that they offered quality service when he used them. I contacted them and ended up doing a booking with them. It is very pleasant to know that there are companies out there who actually care about providing very high quality services for affordable prices. I gave your contacts to my sister. Thank you for the job you did

Robert Williams, Norman Park, QLD

When I moved into my new house, I was shocked by how dirty and old the tiles in the entire house looked. I wasn't sure if they were supposed to be like that or if they were just really dirty. I decided to call Tile Cleaners and ask them to have a look and tell me what I could do to improve the look of my tiles. Tile Cleaners ® came the same weekend and managed to make my tiles look brand new. They also informed me that the sealer would protect my tiles for years to come. Amazing! Thank you guys! My floor looks gorgeous.

Tile Cleaners® prides itself on providing best vinyl stripping and sealing service. Tile Cleaners® apply a safe and fast acting floor stripper, especially effective for the removal of sealers and polishes from vinyl. Sufficient time is then allowed to effect penetration and softening of the seal or polish to be removed and the floor is machine scrubbed with a rotary stripping pad. The remaining residue is removed using a hot water extraction machine with a PH neutralising additive leaving the floor surface clean and ready to be sealed.

What exactly is Vinyl?

Vinyl & Lino are varieties of plastic floor covering, often found in areas with high levels of foot traffic such as shopping centres, nursing homes, kitchens & laundries, just to name a few. Vinyl is a great choice as it is durable and an easy surface to maintain.

There are several major subgroups of vinyl, which evolved from linoleum and is typically a mixture of cork powder or other wood dusts, certain pigments and binding agents pressed into sheets. The sheets are then covered with a transparent wear-resistant layer to seal the vinyl underneath and give the surface a finished look that varies from matte to a glass like shine. Vinyl has always been popular, because it boasts excellent qualities - it's durable and affordable, looks appealing and is fairly easy to maintain. Of course, one of the greatest things about vinyl flooring is that it also comes in a great deal of colours and patterns and ultimately, there is no look that cannot be mimicked by vinyl flooring.

Vinyl flooring is made of several materials, the most common being true vinyl, thermoplastic, and linoleum which is making a comeback due to its versatility and excellent durability. All are smooth, water resistant to a high degree and can be polished to virtually a mirror-like finish. Care must be taken, however, to protect the surface from new, as once the surface finish becomes abraded by foot traffic it will become progressively more difficult to maintain the highly polished finish and if the wear is bad enough, it can prove to be virtually impossible. It's therefore essential to start maintaining the floor surface from the moment it is laid, which is the procedure we're going to look at now. Here at Tile Cleaners we provide professional stripping, cleaning and sealing services for all your Vinyl & Lino floors needs!

Cleaning & Sealing Vinyl Floors

At Tile Cleaners® we know that although polishing vinyl and linoleum floors is not that hard, there are many small aspects to consider and circumstances to allow for in order to achieve the perfect results.

vinyl floor buffing

Our hard floor restoration services include effective cleaning and polishing of vinyl and linoleum floors and their long term protection by employing state-of-the-art equipment and technical expertise. Your surfaces can look fresh once again, just give us a call and allow us to take care of everything. Here at Tile Cleaners® we understand the importance of your family's safety, which is why Tile Cleaners® prefer to use non-toxic finishing agents as we not only want to protect your Vinyl, but your families health too. Materials and agents that present potential health hazards are not in our product portfolio and never have been.

The polish is the uppermost layer of your vinyl or linoleum preventing dirt and liquids from penetrating and staining the floor and should be reapplied regularly, at least twice a year. This involves stripping the previous polish using the manufacturer's approved products and applying a new layer. In most cases dry buffing is needed to achieve maximum shine, surface gloss and durability, although not always necessary, it's the only option for dealing with permanent staining, burns and deep scratches. Finally, a freshly stripped vinyl floor requires a minimum of 3 layers of polish for an acceptable gloss and sufficient surface protection.

Without polishing, linoleum and vinyl floors appear dull and matte and will become progressively susceptible to stains and damage. Advantages of correct polishing is the vinyl surface will become shiny and protected against wear and tear as well as stains. Generally, polished linoleum and vinyl floors require more frequent regular maintenance than flooring that features a protective layer applied by the manufacturer during production. A proper maintenance routine typically includes stripping and re-polishing at least once or twice per year, especially in areas with high foot traffic. You will know it's time to have you floors polished once they start looking dull and matte even after cleaning.

You must never pour polishing agents directly onto the vinyl as this may lead to undesirable effects such as uneven surface gloss, streaking etc. The use of proper, clean applicator pads is of utmost importance. Always wring the pad and never use it while soaked wet with the polishing agent. Remember that rubbing over the same area repeatedly may cause floor marks that appear as paint brush strokes. Generally, several layers of polish need to be applied to attain a smooth, glossy surface finish. It is important that the layers are allowed sufficient time to dry and important to remember the more humid the weather is, the more it will take for each layer to dry. Depending on the polish itself, 40-60 minutes per layer is enough in most cases. Finally, one to two hours in required before allowing foot traffic on the newly polished surface and 24 to 48 hours for the polish to harden and reach its maximum toughness.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our vinyl services include stripping your vinyl or linoleum floor, cleaning it and then re-sealing it.

If your vinyl floors are old, badly scratched or discoloured, we can strip the old sealer and reseal them with a high quality gloss finish to restore the look the vinyl. Resealing will extend the wear on your floors and reduce the appearance of marks and scratches, guarding against dirt penetration and abrasion.

That depends on the area and how it is used. Commercial floors will usually require resealing every year or two, while with residential floors, its good to have them sealed every 3-10 years depending on foot traffic and use. It also depends on the quality of the sealer that is used and the way it has been applied. If you have the procedure professionally done you will get the most out of it and be saving time and money.

Vinyl strip and seal is simply the process of stripping the coating off the vinyl floor before resealing. Vinyl flooring starts to appear dull and lifeless over time, making it look older and affecting the feel of any area. By stripping and resealing, you can restore the vinyl back to a beautiful, lustrous appearance and eliminate the burden and cost of installing new flooring.

Our professional team will go through the job processes with you step by step so you know exactly what you're getting. The process includes stripping any previous sealer if it was applied, the vinyl is then thoroughly cleaned and neutralised so that it is free of dust, residue and anything else that can affect the new sealer. A new sealer is applied to the dry vinyl surface and allowed to set. The newly sealed vinyl will not only look new again, it will be protected and result in your vinyl becoming easier to maintain.

It depends on the size of the area but 4 - 8 hours should be expected. Using the most modern equipment means we can strip, clean and reseal during the same day so you don't have to with more than one appointment.

If you want your vinyl floors to be their cleanest and looking their best you need a professional to strip the wax from the surface which will remove the film of grime that you are seeing. After the floor is stripped of the previous wax and the surface professionally cleaned and a quality sealer applied, you will have the freshest and cleanest looking vinyl.

Yes, you should only have your floors stripped every 3-10 years for residential floors and every 1-3 years for commercial floors. It is best to have your floors buffed and polished on a regular basis to keep them looking new.

You will know it's time once your floors start looking dull and matte even after a proper cleaning.

Our floor restoration services include effective cleaning and polishing of vinyl and linoleum floors and their long-term protection by employing state-of-the-art equipment and technical expertise. Your floor will be in its best possible state, just give us a call and let us handle everything.

Some basic precautions can help to keep your floor in good condition such as using a doormat at entrances, and regular sweeping to avoid grit being walked into the floor.

Sweep or vacuum vinyl floors with a solid floor attachment. To clean dirt that won't come up with a sweep or vacuum, use a non-rinsing cleaner that leaves no film and a mop. Never use an abrasive cleaner, oil cleaner, or dish detergent.

Tile Cleaners® charge per square meter for each separate room. There is a price list on the Tile Cleaners® website for you to review. Before we begin our work we will measure each room individually, confirm the work to be carried out as well as confirm all costs with you.

We recommend that you measure each vinyl area separately. The simplest way to measure is by multiplying the width by the length. For example a room that is 3 meters long and 2 meters wide is 3 X 2 = 6m2 in total.

It depends on the airflow and weather conditions the day that the service is done but usually drying requires around three to six hours.

Tile Cleaners® technicians can help to move items that one person could be expected to move such as furniture with wheels, light furniture, tables and chairs, however as Tile Cleaners® insurance covers our restoration services, we will not be held liable for any damage caused to furniture or property you request our technicians to move.

We do not carry out repairs to damage such as cuts and scratches but we can restore your vinyl with our stripping, cleaning and sealing process. If you have small scratches in your vinyl, after we buff and polish they are often hidden, however deep scratches may still be evident.
