Q: Is the Grinding Process Safe?
A: The grinding process used by Tile Cleaners® technicians is completely safe, not only for your family but for the surrounding areas of your property. The utmost care is taken by our professionals to protect walls and skirting boards as well as all other items in the work area. Excess slurry, dust and debris is extracted as we go, whilst non-toxic sealers are used to finish off the stone. Tile Cleaners® prides itself for catering for each tile type in the safest most hygienic way.

Q: What is the difference between honing and grinding?
A: Grinding refers to the removal of large amounts of material from the surface of the stone. Grinding is used to remove deep scratches and staining as well as lippage(uneven surface) thereby smoothing out the surface of the area making it uniform. Honing is the smoothing of the stone, not as aggressive as grinding and removes very little material from the stone, giving a matte(not glossy as with polishing) look to the surface.

Q: Some areas I want to have ground are in smaller hard to reach places?
A: In areas that cannot be reached by larger floor grinding machines, the grinding can be done using hand held polishing machines.

Q: How will you charge me for grinding my bluestone surfaces?
A: Tile Cleaners® charge per square meter for each separate room. There is a price list on the Tile Cleaners® website for you to review. Before we begin our work we will measure each area individually, confirm the work to be carried out as well as confirm all costs with you.

Q: Will grinding remove the sealer from my bluestone?
A: Yes, the mechanical resurfacing process used to grind your floors will remove all coatings, resulting in your floors being in an "as new" condition. Once honed or polished, you should reseal your surfaces with a deep penetrating, impregnating sealer, which avoids staining and will reduce the effect of soiling.
