Testimonials

I just got new tiles laid in my house that were very expensive. I needed to get them sealed but couldn't afford to pay much for it. On the other hand I didn't want to go for a company offering cheap and unreliably services. My boss recommended Tile Cleaners, saying that the company's prices were reasonable and that they offered quality service when he used them. I contacted them and ended up doing a booking with them. It is very pleasant to know that there are companies out there who actually care about providing very high quality services for affordable prices. I gave your contacts to my sister. Thank you for the job you did

I was about to sell my business and wanted to clean and reseal my vinyl floors to improve the looks of them before having people over for inspection of the property. I did a booking with another company but was horrified when I realized that my floor was back to its horrible look in less than two weeks. I carefully looked up other cleaning companies, scared that I would chose the wrong cleaning company. A friend of mine recommended Tile Cleaners, but after what happened to my floor last time I got it cleaned I was really skeptic, but gave it a go. All I can say is thank you guys so much for a quick response and a good job. I sold the office and left your contact details with the new owner for future cleaning.

Brian Hook, Bayswater, WA

I was about to sell my house, but was not happy with the tiles in the dining area. The tiles were white and shiny but the grout looked really dark and dirty. I already had a potential client; however the dark grout ruined the beauty of the room. I didn't have much time to fix the grout and decided to call Tile Cleaners as my real estate agency mentioned them. As my real estate agent said, Tile cleaners responded really quickly. They also pointed out that some of the grout was coming off in the hallway when they were there, which I had not even noticed. Thank you for fixing my problem so quickly. The house is sold now and I left your details with the new owner so they can keep the tiles in good condition.

West Woombye Travertine Tile Travertine is a form of limestone, and is related to marble, actually falling somewhere between marble and limestone in terms of its development over thousands of years, deposited by mineral springs, especially hot springs, underground rivers and other water sources.

Polished Travertine tile is very vulnerable to acids, which can make it unsuitable for certain installations. Kitchens are a poor choice, as orange juice and other acidic foods may be spilled on the tile, potentially damaging it. Travertine tile should be well sealed to protect it from moisture, spilled items, and wear and tear, and it can be a good idea to periodically strip and reseal the tile to keep it in good condition.

Common Surface Finishes for Travertine Tiles

Honed Travertine: The surface of the tile is sanded to create a matte finish
Tumbled Travertine: Travertine is tumbled with gravel and bearings, giving it a rough, aged appearance
Brushed Travertine: A wire brush is used to give the surface of the travertine tile a worn, textured surface
Filled Travertine: The pores in the Travertine are filled with colored resin or cement to produce a solid surface
Polished Travertine: The Travertine is sanded and polished, producing a shiny look

Travertine tile often has a fibrous or concentric appearance and exists in white, tan and cream-colored varieties. It is formed by a process of rapid precipitation of calcium carbonate, often at the mouth of a hot spring or in a limestone cave. In the latter it can form stalactites, stalagmites and other speleothems. It is frequently used in Italy and elsewhere as a building material.

The resulting stone is a smooth and very hard substance further characterized by its porous surface. These pores are the result of gases escaping as the travertine is formed.

By the time it is quarried, travertine is naturally beautiful - a smooth, dense stone that exhibits a notable creamy color that evokes a certain old-world refinement.

Extensive deposits exist at Tivoli, Italy, near Rome. In fact, travertine derives its name from this town. Tivoli was known as Tibur in ancient Roman times. The ancient name for the stone was lapis tiburtinus meaning tibur stone, which has been corrupted to travertine.

Where can you use Travertine?

Travertine tiles are stunningly stylish and long-lasting building product and can be both functional and aesthetically striking. The durability and attraction of Travertine as a natural stone is just unmatchable. Travertine is one of the strongest natural stone tiles available and is a beautiful building material for both flooring and walls, whether indoors or outdoors. Travertine is very popular choice as pavers and swimming pool surrounds. Travertine tiles create a natural look for any area as no two tiles are similar.
