Testimonials

I was about to sell my business and wanted to clean and reseal my vinyl floors to improve the looks of them before having people over for inspection of the property. I did a booking with another company but was horrified when I realized that my floor was back to its horrible look in less than two weeks. I carefully looked up other cleaning companies, scared that I would chose the wrong cleaning company. A friend of mine recommended Tile Cleaners, but after what happened to my floor last time I got it cleaned I was really skeptic, but gave it a go. All I can say is thank you guys so much for a quick response and a good job. I sold the office and left your contact details with the new owner for future cleaning.

Brian Hook, Bayswater, WA

I was about to sell my house, but was not happy with the tiles in the dining area. The tiles were white and shiny but the grout looked really dark and dirty. I already had a potential client; however the dark grout ruined the beauty of the room. I didn't have much time to fix the grout and decided to call Tile Cleaners as my real estate agency mentioned them. As my real estate agent said, Tile cleaners responded really quickly. They also pointed out that some of the grout was coming off in the hallway when they were there, which I had not even noticed. Thank you for fixing my problem so quickly. The house is sold now and I left your details with the new owner so they can keep the tiles in good condition.

Anna Rodwell, Tingalpa, QLD

I have several different freshly laid tiles in my new house. All pathways have stone tiles and there are marble tiles in the bathrooms and porcelain in the kitchen. I needed to get them sealed and was not sure if it was possible to seal them all. I contacted Tile Cleaners because my dad recommended them. He had a similar situation in his house and was very happy with the job Tile Cleaners had done. I was very worried about my tiles since they were brand new and very expensive. Tile Cleaners team were very patient with me, explaining how they were going to apply the sealer on different types of tiles, what sealer they would use, how long it would last for and advised me on how to take care of my tiles. I called Tile Cleaners a few times confirming details, asking for prices, making sure they could to the job during the weekend etc. The guys were amazingly patient and helpful. When I had gathered all the information I wanted, I was ready to go ahead. The work done by Tile Cleaners actually took less time than what it took me looking for information about it. Sorry for the pain I caused, and again thank you.

Frequently Asked Questions | Tile and Grout Sealing - Sealing Marble Tiles

Sealing Marble Tiles

When we talk about a "sealer," we are referring to a liquid or carrier that contains a resin. This substance is applied to porous surfaces, whether they are natural stone or man-made materials. The primary function of a sealer is to provide protection against staining caused by water and/or oil-based materials. By applying the sealer, you can prevent these substances from penetrating and staining the surface. Additionally, a sealer can enhance the overall cleaning results by making it easier to clean and maintain the surfaces effectively.

Sealing marble tiles is crucial as it provides a protective barrier against liquid spills and dirt particles that could penetrate the natural stone. Unlike polishes, sealers are specifically designed to prevent substances from sinking into the marble. It is highly recommended to have your marble tiles sealed, especially when they are first installed, as this initial seal can last for up to 15 years. It is advised to contact us promptly after the installation of your marble floors so that we can protect them from any potential permanent damage.

Tile Cleaning recommends conducting a simple "water test" to assess whether your marble floors necessitate sealing. This widely recognized test in the stone industry involves placing a few drops of water on the stone surface and allowing it to remain for approximately 10 to 30 minutes. Subsequently, wipe the water dry. If the marble did not darken during this process, it indicates that your marble is adequately sealed and does not require further sealing. However, if the water caused darkening of the marble, it signifies that the water was able to penetrate the stone, indicating the need for sealing.

The sealer used for marble tiles is exclusively water-based in all our applications, except in specific situations where solvent-based sealer becomes necessary. Rest assured that the sealer will not alter the texture of your marble tiles in any manner. Its primary function is to safeguard your marble from stains while preserving the desired natural and radiant appearance you desire.

Absolutely, we provide color enhancing services specifically designed for travertine. The color enhancement process involves the application of a specialized compound that enriches and intensifies the natural appearance of the travertine. By applying the color enhancer, the tiles' tones and hues are deepened, bringing out the inherent beauty of the travertine material. This treatment imparts a subtle wet or low sheen finish, enhancing the overall visual appeal of your travertine surfaces. Our color enhancing services are aimed at highlighting the unique characteristics and enhancing the aesthetics of your travertine.

The color enhancer applied by Tile Cleaning does not alter the texture of your marble floors. Its primary effect is to enhance the colors of your marble tiles, bringing out the inherent natural beauty of your surfaces.

When our professional team arrives to re-seal your marble floors, they will provide you with a detailed explanation of the job processes. The process begins by stripping any previous sealer, if applied, followed by a thorough cleaning and neutralization of the marble surface. This ensures that the floor is free from dust, residue, and any other factors that may affect the new sealer's effectiveness. Once the marble floor is dry, a fresh layer of sealer is applied and allowed to set. The re-sealed marble floor will not only regain its new-like appearance but also benefit from enhanced protection, making it easier to maintain in the long run.

The duration of resealing your marble floors varies depending on the size of the area being sealed. Typically, most jobs can be completed within 4 to 8 hours. To ensure convenience, we perform both the cleaning and resealing on the same day, eliminating the need for multiple appointments.

Marble tiles typically take approximately 4 hours to become touch dry after the sealing process. However, it is recommended to allow a full 24 hours for the sealer to fully cure before placing any objects or furniture back onto the tiles. During this curing period, it is important to refrain from moving any heavy items onto the tiles or grout to prevent any potential damage.

The Deepshield™ Impregnating Penetrating Sealer, which we use, does not affect the slipperiness of your marble floors. This sealer penetrates the top layer of your marble, maintaining its original slip resistance. However, it's worth noting that some topical sealers may potentially make the marble floors slippery when wet. To preserve both the appearance and slip resistance of your marble while preventing moisture damage, we suggest sealing your surfaces with a high-quality, invisible, and fully breathable impregnating sealer.

Acid etching refers to the process in which acidic substances can corrode or eat away at your marble tiles, causing damage. Protecting your marble against acid etching can be challenging as sealing alone may not provide complete defense. The most effective method to safeguard your marble tiles is to promptly seal them and clean any spills or acidic substances immediately. Since stone-based tiles, including marble, have high porosity, sealing is essential to provide protection against future acid attacks and liquid spillage. Taking these preventative measures will help preserve the integrity of your marble tiles.

Tile Cleaners is experienced in sealing various types of marble tiles, including indoor and outdoor areas. This includes polished marble, honed marble, marble with a matte finish, porous marble, pre-sealed marble, as well as marble tiles found in bathrooms on floors and walls. Additionally, Tile Cleaners can also seal external tiles, natural stone pavers, and tile pavers. Regardless of the specific type of marble tiles you have, Tile Cleaners can provide suitable solutions and expertise to meet your needs.

Tile Cleaning places a strong emphasis on the safety of your family during the cleaning process. They ensure that only non-toxic finishing agents are used, eliminating the presence of any potentially harmful substances or ingredients. Tile Cleaning takes great care in selecting cleaning products, specifically excluding any ingredients that could pose health risks. This commitment to safety not only helps preserve the condition of your stone tiles but also reflects Tile Cleaning's dedication to prioritizing the overall health and safety of your household. By choosing Tile Cleaning, you can have peace of mind knowing that the products used in the cleaning process are free from toxic ingredients.

The recommended frequency for sealing marble floors depends on various factors, including the type of sealer used and the level of foot traffic the tiles experience. In Australia, the Deepshield® range offers deep impregnating water-based sealers, with Deepshield Gold® specifically designed for denser materials like marble and granite, providing protection for up to 15 years. Topical sealers typically last around 3 years. However, if your marble floors endure heavy foot traffic or are exposed to severe weather conditions (in the case of outdoor tiles), the lifespan of the sealer may be shorter. It is also important to consider the condition of the tiles. If you notice patchy areas and an increased susceptibility to staining, it may indicate that resealing is necessary. For further inquiries, please don't hesitate to contact our team, who will be delighted to assist you.

Neglecting to seal marble floors can leave them vulnerable to damage. Spills containing oils or harsh substances have the potential to penetrate the porous surface of the marble, resulting in permanent stains that cannot be effectively removed through regular domestic cleaning methods. It is highly advisable to seal your marble tiles to preserve their natural appearance, protect them from permanent staining, and prevent accidental damage in the future. By sealing your marble floors, you can extend their longevity, maintain their pristine condition, and facilitate easier and more convenient maintenance.

The best time to seal marble floors is immediately after installation to provide proactive protection against accidental staining or damage. To determine if your marble floors require sealing, look for patchy areas on the floor where the sealant may have worn off. Additionally, if you notice that the marble tiles are becoming more susceptible to staining, it indicates that the existing sealer has deteriorated, and resealing is necessary to maintain the integrity and appearance of your marble floors. By addressing these signs promptly, you can ensure the long-term beauty and protection of your marble floors.

If the stain on your marble floor is recent and has not deeply set in, there is a good chance that it can be removed. However, it is important to note that complete stain removal cannot be guaranteed. The commitment of Tile Cleaning is to clean the floor to the best possible condition. The success of stain removal also depends on whether the marble tiles have been previously sealed or not. Some stains may penetrate the natural stone and settle below the surface, making them more challenging to clean. To prevent future staining and maintain the appearance of your marble floors, Tile Cleaning recommends a comprehensive process that involves stripping, cleaning, and sealing the marble floor. This approach provides protection and reduces the susceptibility of your marble floors to staining.

The colour enhancing sealer offered by Tile Cleaners® has the potential to minimize the appearance of scratches on your marble floors, but we cannot assure that they will be completely restored to their original condition. Our Deepshield™ Penetrating Colour Enhancing Sealer can darken your marble tiles by up to 20%, effectively helping to camouflage etches and reviving the natural, fresh look of your marble floors.

To preserve the fresh appearance of your marble tiles after sealing, Tile Cleaners® suggests a weekly cleaning routine using a mild detergent to effectively eliminate dirt and grime from the marble surface. It is important to avoid using strong detergents containing harsh acids or alkalis, as they can potentially compromise the sealer. Instead, opt for mild detergents and pH-neutral substances, which are highly recommended. For optimal protection against staining, our expert advice is to seal your marble tiles with one of our highest quality sealers. This added layer of protection serves as the best defense against potential staining and helps maintain the pristine condition of your marble tiles.

Tile Cleaning follow a pricing model based on the square meter measurement for each individual room when charging for sealing marble tiles. A comprehensive price list can be found on the Tile Cleaners® website for your convenience and reference. Before commencing the project, our team will take precise measurements of each room, discuss the scope of work to be undertaken, and provide a thorough cost breakdown to ensure transparency and clarity. This process ensures that all costs are confirmed with you before proceeding with the sealing of your marble tiles.

To accurately measure the area of marble that requires sealing, it is best to measure each individual area separately. This can be done by multiplying the width of the area by its length. For instance, if you have a room that is 3 meters long and 2 meters wide, the total area would be calculated as 3 meters multiplied by 2 meters, resulting in 6 square meters (6m²). This method ensures precise measurements for determining the amount of marble that needs to be sealed.

Tile Cleaning provides assistance with moving furniture during the floor sealing process. Their team of dedicated technicians is available to help with the relocation of furniture items that can be reasonably managed by one person, such as those with wheels or lightweight furniture like tables and chairs. However, it is important to keep in mind that while Tile Cleaning takes precautions to protect your belongings, they cannot be held responsible for any damages that may occur during the furniture moving process. To ensure the safety of valuable or fragile items, it is recommended to either relocate them to a secure area or properly secure them before the technicians arrive. By taking these necessary precautions, you can help ensure the safety of your furniture and minimize the risk of potential damage while the floor sealing process is being carried out.

Before our arrival, it is important to remove all furniture and items from your marble floors. This preparation ensures that the floors are clear and ready for the sealing process when we begin our work.
