Other FAQs :
- Q: Will honing remove the sealer from my travertine?
- A: Yes, the mechanical resurfacing process used to hone your floors will remove all coatings, resulting in your floors being in an "as new" condition. Once honed, you should reseal your surfaces with a deep penetrating, impregnating sealer, which avoids staining and will reduce the effect of soiling.
- Q: Can honing leave my floors shiny?
- A: No, honing produces the opposite effect to having your floors polished. Honing will result in a smooth, matte, non reflective finish and will only appear shiny, or glossy where the honing process is followed by a polishing process.
- Q: Can honing remove deep stains in the travertine?
- A: Honing will remove scratches and stains and give a more uniform appearance to your surface.
- Q: Can honing remove lippage from tiling?
- A: Lippage is the term given to uneven tiles that are set higher than one another, which usually requires a more aggressive process than honing in order to create a completely flat surface. Grinding is recommended for excessive lippage.
- Q: How long will it take to hone my travertine surfaces?
- A: This will depend on the size of the area; larger jobs can require up to 3 days while honing a bench-top can take up to half a day. Tile Cleaners® do try to ensure work is completed within the same day to avoid as much disruption to your home or business as possible.
