Testimonials

When I moved into my new house, I was shocked by how dirty and old the tiles in the entire house looked. I wasn't sure if they were supposed to be like that or if they were just really dirty. I decided to call Tile Cleaners and ask them to have a look and tell me what I could do to improve the look of my tiles. Tile Cleaners ® came the same weekend and managed to make my tiles look brand new. They also informed me that the sealer would protect my tiles for years to come. Amazing! Thank you guys! My floor looks gorgeous.

Amanda Burtender, Brighton East, VIC

Thank you Tile Cleaners ® for dealing with the solvent sealer I had and resealing my hallway; I know it's a pain but you did a great job. I will definitely call you again as I need help with my tiles in the office.

Paul Gold, Gold Coast, QLD

My mother's tiles were old and ugly, as she has been living in the same house her entire life without ever really taking care of her tiles. I called Tile Cleaners to get advice on what to do with them. They came to her house the next day to have a look at my mum's tiles. I am very satisfied with how patient and highly professional you were with my mother. I am sorry I couldn't be there when you arrived, and I am really impressed by how you managed to explain everything to my mom and help her out. Thank you for doing a great job.

Vinyl / Linoleum Floor Cleaning & Sealing Rose Park - Burnside

We can make your dull and faded vinyl & lino floors
look brand new!

We cover all Adelaide suburbs, all Burnside area and all surrounding suburbs to Rose Park

Have your vinyl surface previously been stripped and sealed and have since lost their lustre, are looking dull and have become harder to clean? If so you need to have your vinyl re-stripped and sealed in order to protect the vinyl and also bring it back to life. Stripping and sealing needs to be done at regular intervals in order to maintain the protection of the vinyl surface as foot traffic will slowly sand away the sealer, and if left too long the vinyl may become irreparable.

What exactly is Vinyl?

Rose Park Bathroom Vinyl FloorVinyl & Lino are varieties of plastic floor covering often found in areas with high levels of foot traffic such as shopping centres, nursing homes, kitchens & laundries, just to name a few. Vinyl is a great choice as it is durable and an easy surface to maintain. Care must be taken, however, to protect the surface from new, as once the surface finish becomes abraded by foot traffic it becomes progressively more difficult to maintain a highly polished finish and when the wear is bad enough, it can prove to be virtually impossible. It is therefore essential to start maintaining the floor surface from the moment it is laid and that is the procedure we're going to look at now. Here at Rose Park's Tile Cleaners we provide professional stripping, cleaning and sealing services for all your Vinyl & Lino floors needs!

There are several major subgroups of vinyl, which evolved from linoleum and is typically a mixture of cork powder or other wood dusts, certain pigments and binding agents pressed into sheets. The sheets are then covered with a transparent wear-resistant layer to seal the vinyl underneath and give the surface a finished look that varies from matte to a glass like shine. Vinyl has always been popular, because it boasts excellent qualities - it's durable and affordable, looks appealing and is fairly easy to maintain. Of course, one of the greatest things about vinyl flooring is that it also comes in a great deal of colours and patterns and ultimately, there is no look that cannot be mimicked by vinyl flooring.

Vinyl flooring is made of several materials, the most common being true vinyl, thermoplastic, and linoleum which is making a comeback due to its versatility and excellent durability. All are smooth, water resistant to a high degree and can be polished to virtually a mirror-like finish. Care must be taken, however, to protect the surface from new, as once the surface finish becomes abraded by foot traffic it will become progressively more difficult to maintain the highly polished finish and if the wear is bad enough, it can prove to be virtually impossible. It's therefore essential to start maintaining the floor surface from the moment it is laid, which is the procedure we're going to look at now. Here at Tile Cleaners we provide professional stripping, cleaning and sealing services for all your Vinyl & Lino floors needs!

What is Linoleum?

Lino FloorLinoleum, commonly abbreviated just "lino" is a flooring material first patented in 1863. The name comes from its main ingredient, solidified linseed oil, which is boiled and mixed with molten resins, powdered cork, wood dust, fine limestone and other raw materials. Finally, the mixture is formed into sheets by applying heat and pressure. Genuine linoleum is an extremely long wearing floor coating that gets stronger with age due the linseed oil becoming harder as it oxidises slowly over time.

Rose Park Kitchen Vinyl FloorThe polish is the uppermost layer of your vinyl or linoleum preventing dirt and liquids from penetrating and staining the floor and should be reapplied regularly, at least twice a year. This involves stripping the previous polish using the manufacturer's approved products and applying a new layer. In most cases dry buffing is needed to achieve maximum shine, surface gloss and durability, although not always necessary, it's the only option for dealing with permanent staining, burns and deep scratches. Finally, a freshly stripped vinyl floor requires a minimum of 3 layers of polish for an acceptable gloss and sufficient surface protection.

Rose Park Lino FlooringWithout polishing, linoleum and vinyl floors appear dull and matte and will become progressively susceptible to stains and damage. Advantages of correct polishing is the vinyl surface will become shiny and protected against wear and tear as well as stains. Generally, polished linoleum and vinyl floors require more frequent regular maintenance than flooring that features a protective layer applied by the manufacturer during production. A proper maintenance routine typically includes stripping and re-polishing at least once or twice per year, especially in areas with high foot traffic. You will know it's time to have you floors polished once they start looking dull and matte even after cleaning.

You must never pour polishing agents directly onto the vinyl as this may lead to undesirable effects such as uneven surface gloss, streaking etc. The use of proper, clean applicator pads is of utmost importance. Always wring the pad and never use it while soaked wet with the polishing agent. Remember that rubbing over the same area repeatedly may cause floor marks that appear as paint brush strokes. Generally, several layers of polish need to be applied to attain a smooth, glossy surface finish. It is important that the layers are allowed sufficient time to dry and important to remember the more humid the weather is, the more it will take for each layer to dry. Depending on the polish itself, 40-60 minutes per layer is enough in most cases. Finally, one to two hours in required before allowing foot traffic on the newly polished surface and 24 to 48 hours for the polish to harden and reach its maximum toughness.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answering this question can be challenging because it relies on various factors such as frequency of use, contact with objects like trolleys, cleaning practices (sweeping, vacuuming, mopping), and the cleaning products used. Some brooms may have abrasive bristles that can potentially damage the floor. Additionally, certain chemicals can erode the floor sealer, so it's crucial to use pH-neutral floor cleaners with proper dilution rates. Even a pH-neutral cleaner can become alkaline if not diluted correctly. The number of previous sealer coats, the quality of the sealer, and the correct sealing technique employed also play a role in determining floor durability.

Our vinyl cleaning services consist of three main steps: stripping the vinyl or linoleum floor, thoroughly cleaning it, and finally, re-sealing the floor.

Resealing vinyl floors is advised for multiple reasons. If your floors are aged, extensively scratched, or discolored, stripping away old sealers and applying a fresh, high-quality gloss finish can effectively restore their appearance. The process of resealing not only rejuvenates the look of the floors but also prolongs their lifespan. It diminishes the visibility of marks and scratches while establishing a protective barrier against dirt infiltration and abrasion. By opting for resealing, you can enhance the durability, enhance the visual appeal, and safeguard your vinyl or linoleum floors from future damage.

The recommended frequency for resealing vinyl or linoleum floors varies depending on factors like usage and foot traffic. Commercial floors, subject to heavy use, generally require resealing every one to two years to maintain their condition and protection. In residential settings, the frequency can range from every three to ten years, depending on the level of foot traffic and usage. Factors such as the quality of the sealer used and the application process also influence the longevity of the seal. Opting for professional sealing services ensures optimal results, extends the durability of the seal, and can potentially save time and money in the long term.

The vinyl strip and seal process involves the removal of the current coating or sealant from the vinyl floor, followed by resealing it. Over time, vinyl flooring can become dull and lose its shine, resulting in an aged and unappealing appearance. By performing a strip and seal procedure, the vinyl floor can be revitalized, restoring its attractive and glossy look. This process eliminates the need for expensive floor replacement and offers a cost-effective solution to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the area.

Our professional team will guide you through each step of the job, ensuring that you have a clear understanding of the process. Firstly, any previous sealer, if present, will be stripped off. Next, the vinyl or linoleum surface will undergo a thorough cleaning and neutralization process to remove dust, residue, and any other elements that may affect the new sealer. Once the surface is dry, a fresh layer of sealer will be applied and allowed to set. As a result, your newly sealed vinyl or linoleum floors will regain their appearance, receive protection, and become easier to maintain.

The time required to reseal vinyl or linoleum floors can vary based on the size of the area being sealed. On average, most projects are completed within 4 to 8 hours. At our company, we prioritize efficiency by aiming to complete the stripping, cleaning, and resealing processes in a single day. This approach eliminates the need for multiple appointments and ensures a smooth experience for our customers. Our dedicated team works diligently to complete the resealing process within a reasonable timeframe, allowing you to enjoy your revitalized vinyl or linoleum floors as soon as possible.

Stripping vinyl or linoleum floors with the help of a professional is crucial to achieve the cleanest and most aesthetically pleasing results. By stripping the wax from the surface, any accumulated grime and dirt can be effectively removed. Once the previous wax is stripped off, the surface undergoes a professional cleaning process, followed by the application of a high-quality sealer. This comprehensive approach ensures that your vinyl or linoleum floors attain a fresh and immaculate appearance.

It is recommended to strip residential vinyl or linoleum floors every 3-10 years, while commercial floors may require stripping every 1-3 years. However, it is important to note that excessive stripping can potentially damage the floors. To maintain a fresh appearance, regular buffing and polishing are preferable as they help preserve the floors' new look.

You will notice that it's time to strip and clean your floors when they appear dull and lackluster, even after undergoing a thorough cleaning.

To maintain the condition and appearance of your vinyl or linoleum floor, there are a few simple precautions you can take. Placing a doormat at entrances can help to trap dirt and debris, preventing them from being tracked onto the floor. Regularly sweeping the floor to remove loose dirt and grit is also essential, as these particles can act as abrasives and potentially scratch the surface. Additionally, promptly wiping up any spills or stains can prevent them from seeping into the floor and causing long-term damage. By implementing these basic measures, you can help preserve the longevity and fresh look of your vinyl or linoleum floor.

To clean vinyl or linoleum floors, it is advisable to sweep or vacuum using a solid floor attachment to remove loose dirt and debris. For stubborn dirt that cannot be removed through sweeping or vacuuming, a non-rinsing cleaner that does not leave behind any residue can be used along with a mop. It is important to avoid using abrasive cleaners, oil-based cleaners, or dish detergents, as these can potentially damage the flooring. By following these guidelines, you can effectively clean and maintain your vinyl or linoleum floors.

Tile Cleaning charges per square meter for each separate room during the stripping and sealing process. You can find a detailed price list on the Tile Cleaning website for your reference. Prior to starting the work, our team will measure each room individually, discuss the scope of work to be performed, and confirm all associated costs with you. This ensures transparency and clarity regarding the pricing structure for stripping and sealing your vinyl surfaces.

It is best to measure each vinyl area individually. The simplest method is to multiply the width of the area by its length. For instance, if a room is 3 meters long and 2 meters wide, the total area would be calculated as 3 meters (length) multiplied by 2 meters (width), resulting in a total of 6 square meters (6m2).

The drying time for a vinyl floor can vary depending on factors such as airflow and weather conditions on the day of the service. On average, it usually takes approximately three to six hours for a vinyl floor to dry after cleaning or sealing.

Tile Cleaning provides assistance with moving furniture during the floor sealing process. Their team of dedicated technicians is available to help with the relocation of furniture items that can be reasonably managed by one person, such as those with wheels or lightweight furniture like tables and chairs. However, it is important to keep in mind that while Tile Cleaning takes precautions to protect your belongings, they cannot be held responsible for any damages that may occur during the furniture moving process. To ensure the safety of valuable or fragile items, it is recommended to either relocate them to a secure area or properly secure them before the technicians arrive. By taking these necessary precautions, you can help ensure the safety of your furniture and minimize the risk of potential damage while the floor sealing process is being carried out.

We do not provide repairs for damages such as cuts and scratches. However, we offer a comprehensive stripping, cleaning, and sealing process that can help restore your vinyl flooring. In some cases, our buffing and polishing techniques can minimize the appearance of small scratches. However, please note that deep scratches may still be visible even after the restoration process.

To determine if your old and dull vinyl or linoleum floors can be restored to regain a new appearance, a Tile Cleaning technician will need to conduct an inspection. The feasibility of restoration will depend on various factors, including the age of the vinyl. By carefully assessing the condition of the floors, the technician can provide a professional evaluation and determine if restoration is possible. This inspection allows for an accurate assessment of the floors' potential for revitalization, ensuring that you receive informed guidance regarding the best course of action for your specific vinyl or linoleum flooring.

If the stain is new and has not fully set in, there is a high chance that we can remove it. However, it is important to note that proper maintenance, including regular stripping, cleaning, and sealing, is essential to prevent staining on your vinyl floor in the future.

The main distinction lies in the maintenance requirements. Linoleum floors necessitate regular refinishing intervals, while vinyl floors are more durable and typically only require occasional resealing when the sealant wears off, leaving the tiles vulnerable to scuffing or tearing.
