I have several different freshly laid tiles in my new house. All pathways have stone tiles and there are marble tiles in the bathrooms and porcelain in the kitchen. Our marble restoration process consists of a multiple step mechanical process using diamond abrasive pads and water. Generally this is a three step process that starts with grinding the surface of the stone with a course grit abrasive pad. After grinding the stone the second step is to hone the surface of the stone with a finer grit abrasive pad. Honing makes the surface of the stone very smooth but results in very little shine. After honing, the final step is to polish the surface of the stone with fine diamond abrasive to achieve the desired finish.

Do not confuse Marble cleaning services with Marble restoration services. There is only one real way to restore a marble floor that is to physically grind the surface so as to remove scratches stains and marks and create a smooth light reflective surface. Only this process is able to create a deep long lasting finish.
The use of chemical hardener, acrylic sealers and wax finishes are commonly used in order to achieve a quick fix. These products and finishes are inferior and are nearly masking the problems underneath, they will most likely peel off and within a short period of time your marble floor will look as bad it did before. In order to remove these coatings it may be necessary to use harsh chemicals some of which if not properly and professionally disposed of, can be harmful to the environment.
The restoration process we employ involves initially a deep clean with a combination of a rotary cleaning machines and by hand in the hard to access areas. This is followed by using the latest technology diamond resurfacing through a graduated range of abrasive pads that slowly skim off the top surface of the marble. This process is commonly known as marble grinding or honing and starts with a coarse grit pad that erases surface scratches, some stains and other forms of surface damage.
Next we progress through the finer grades as we hone the fresh marble surface with a finer abrasive pad to create a perfectly smooth finish. At this stage there is a sheen to the surface of the marble which can be left at this level and sealed or impregnated. If a deep polish finish is required various polishing techniques can be used to achieve a mirror finish. It is this final marble polishing technique that quickly restores the original glossy appearance and enhances the natural colour to the marble.
