I have several different freshly laid tiles in my new house. All pathways have stone tiles and there are marble tiles in the bathrooms and porcelain in the kitchen. I needed to get them sealed and was not sure if it was possible to seal them all. I contacted Tile Cleaners because my dad recommended them. Q: What is the difference between honing and grinding? - Grinding Natural Stone | Grinding Marble Tiles

A: Grinding refers to the removal of large amounts of material from the surface of the stone. Grinding is used to remove deep scratches and staining as well as lippage(uneven surface) thereby smoothing out the surface of the area making it uniform. Honing is the smoothing of the stone, not as aggressive as grinding and removes very little material from the stone, giving a matte(not glossy as with polishing) look to the surface.

Q: Is the Grinding Process Safe?
A: The grinding process used by Tile Cleaners® technicians is completely safe, not only for your family but for the surrounding areas of your property. A: Tile Cleaners® charge per square meter for each separate room. There is a price list on the Tile Cleaners® website for you to review. Before we begin our work we will measure each area individually, confirm the work to be carried out as well as confirm all costs with you.

Q: Is grinding my marble a messy process?
A: Most of our procedures use water in order to minimise dust production. Grinding will create a slurry, however by employing state-of-the-art equipment and by extracting as we work, once finished your surfaces will be left in their best possible condition.

Q: How long will it take to grind my marble surfaces?
A: This will depend on the size of the area; larger jobs can require up to 3 days while grinding a bench-top can take up to half a day. Tile Cleaners® do try to ensure work is completed within the same day to avoid as much disruption to your home or business as possible.
